The fire was reported at 5861 S Avalon Blvd. around 2:40 p.m. and extinguished shortly after 3:30 p.m.

The blaze was primarily concentrated on the large commercial structure and neighboring metal shed, but also heavily damaged a single-family home behind the shed. By 3:30 p.m. the roof of the largest building had collapsed.

The department said there was a concern about propane tanks at the site.

Firefighters said a mayday call was issued after two firefighters became separated from their crew, but both were soon found uninjured.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
