Compton rapper Coolio and his associate were arrested on Saturday after authorities discovered a stolen, loaded firearm in a bag during a screening at Los Angeles International Airport, according to the Los Angeles Airport Police.
Officers responded to a call of a prohibited item at a TSA screening around 10:50 a.m. There, police found a carryon bag on the X-ray screening belt with a weapon inside.
Coolio’s friend, who claimed ownership of the bag, was detained, police said.
It was later revealed that the bag, and the items inside, belonged to the 53-year-old rapper who left the screening area and boarded an aircraft for departure, authorities said.
Police detained Coolio, who’s legal name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., after he claimed ownership of the bag and gun following questioning, according to police.
Both men were arrested for possession of a stolen, loaded firearm and were transported to the LAPD Pacific Division Jail for booking.
Coolio is being held on a $37,300 bail.
