The call came in from the 7500 block of Vassar Avenue about 11:20 a.m., according to Sgt. Kim with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Topanga Station.

The caller reported a man near the pool with a gun on a nearby table. Officers responded and surrounded the complex, but they don’t know if the man has a gun, Kim said.

It’s not clear whether the complex was evacuated. Dozens of officers were on scene.

A man was taken into custody without incident, LAPD Office Liliana Preciado said about 4 p.m.

Video from the scene showed a shirtless, handcuffed man being escorted out of the complex by a police official.

Two women could be seen talking to him as he sat next to an ambulance. He was later strapped into a gurney, but it wasn’t immediately clear if he was taken away in the ambulance or by police.

The scene took place on a residential street a block from Canoga Park Elementary School.
