At about 4:35 p.m. Monday near UCLA's Center for Health Sciences, an armed man entered the passenger side of the victim's car and ordered the victim to drive away from the campus, the UCLA Police Department reported in a crime alert.

The victim was held for several hours before being released uninjured.

Police said the victim was not affiliated with UCLA, and did not know the assailant.

"I live in University Apartment. I feel safe," UCLA student Kenneth Chan told KTLA. "It's just unbelievable."

The assailant was described as a Hispanic man, standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with light brown hair, a mustache and a goatee.

The man was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt and shorts.

The vehicle being sought in the incident was described as a beige, four door, 2007, beige Subaru Impreza WRX, with license plate number 6ATF802.

Anyone with information about this incident was urged to call the UCPD at 310-825-1491.
