Authorities ID 4 Men Found Dead in ‘Suspicious’ Temecula Area Fire; Fifth Victim Remains Unidentified

The identities of four of the men whose bodies were found inside a burned residential structure in an unincorporated part of Temecula in August have been released, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported Tuesday.

The remains of James Jennex, 50, Jared Prudhomme, 26, Milford Battison, 37 and Richard Driskill, 37,  were found around 6 a.m. on Aug. 29 when deputies responded to a residence in the 41000 block of Cruz Way in an unincorporated area of Temecula, sheriff’s officials announced in a news release.

Another man who was also found dead inside the burned structure has not yet been identified pending notification of his family.

Cal Fire crews were working to extinguish the deadly blaze when deputies arrived on scene. The fire was deemed “suspicious” after the remains were located by sheriff’s deputies.

The sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit and a Cal Fire Arson Unit have been investigating the cause of deadly fire, which included an initial five day search for evidence through the debris and ash of the fire, authorities reported

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
