18-Year-Old Man Killed, 1 Wounded in Apparent Shootout in Front of San Bernardino Home: Police

A man was shot and killed early Sunday, and another person was wounded, in front of a home in San Bernardino, officials reported.

Police responded to a shooting call about 2:25 a.m. near the 300 block of West Wabash Street, the San Bernardino Police Department reported in a news release. Danny Ornelas, 18, was found on the ground in front of his home with a loaded handgun next to him. Investigators said it appeared Ornelas had been in a shootout with another person  based on the evidence found at the scene.

Another person was injured in the shooting, according to police, and taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

Police said the two victims may have been related.

Ornelas suffered at least one gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital. He later died from his injuries, police said.

Ornelas was on active parole for robbery.

The shooting remains under investigation.
