A police pursuit came to a violent halt Monday night in Palmdale as the driver of a stolen vehicle pummeled into two other cars, officials said.

Four individuals, including the suspected stolen vehicle driver, were injured, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Carl Savage. Officers began pursuing a black Honda Civic after running the car's license plate number when they noticed one of its tail lights was out, he said.

The pursuit began at 9:30 p.m. and lasted about 10 minutes before the Civic driver ran a red light at the intersection of 47th Street East and Avenue R, striking the two other cars, according to Savage.

The driver was transported to a trauma center with a severe leg injury, officials said. The three wounded victims, all adults, are expected to survive.

Authorities did not release the identity of the driver or victims.
