Simi Valley Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Man Who Allegedly Tried to Kidnap Girl

Simi Valley police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a 13-year-old girl after she got off a bus.

The incident was reported about 4 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Stearns and Cochran streets, police said in a news release.

The girl got off the bus and was walking toward her home when the man allegedly grabbed her and tried to force her to go with him, police said. The man let go of the girl when a person honked their car horn at the man.

The girl then ran home and told her father what happened, police said. The man was not found when police responded to the area and he remains at large.

The man is described as being Hispanic, between 30 and 40 years old, between 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds with black hair, police said.

Authorities are also hoping to speak to the person who honked their horn at the man.
