Two Wells Fargo employees at its El Monte corporate location were transported to the hospital Tuesday after opening a package that contained an unknown white powdery substance, officials said.
Hazmat teams were on scene and fire crews evacuated the fourth floor of the building on the 3400 block of Flair Drive, according to Vanessa Lozano of the L.A. County Fire Department.
The two people transported for precautionary evaluation appeared to be the only ones who had come into contact with the powder, and they did not seem to exhibit negative symptoms, Lozano said.
Authorities said they were called to the building at 11:35 a.m. By late afternoon, employees were able to reenter the premises.
It is unclear what operations are at the location and how many people work there.
