Two officers were transported to a local hospital with neck and back pain after their patrol vehicle was T-boned by a suspected drunk driver in Griffith Park early Sunday morning, police said.
The two-man unit was responding to a call about someone locked inside the park, and while searching for the individual another vehicle suddenly collided into theirs, according to Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Teresa Anderson.
The collision occurred near 4730 Crystal Springs Drive around 1:45 a.m.
The driver of the civilian vehicle was immediately arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, Anderson said. It’s unclear whether the collision was intentional as the driver was extremely inebriated, she added.
Both officers were transported in unknown condition but are expected to survive.
