Officers initially spotted a vehicle driving on the right shoulder of the westbound 105 Freeway near the Long Beach Boulevard offramp and attempted to make a traffic stop at about 5:38 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Polizzi said.

The driver did not pull over and officers began to pursue the vehicle, Polizzi said.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed a motorcycle officer following the car on the 105 Freeway.

The driver eventually exited and continued to evade officer on city streets.

Officers used multiple PIT maneuvers on the vehicle, but the driver regained control each time and continued to speed away.

The chase came to an end just before 6 a.m. near the intersection of West Century Avenue and South Western Avenue in the Gramercy Park neighborhood after the driver was surrounded by patrol vehicles.

Video showed the driver being taken out of the vehicle and detained by officers.
