The body of a Connecticut man who was last seen attending a party in New York City over the weekend was found in a suitcase in New Jersey, law enforcement sources confirm to KTLA sister station WPIX.
The remains of Joseph Comunale, 26, of Stamford, Connecticut, were found in Oceanport in Monmouth County on Wednesday. Sources say the body was found with multiple stab wounds.
Initially, it was believed the body may have been "chopped." But later sources clarified that Comunale's body was not severed.
Comunale was last seen entering a luxury apartment building Saturday night with friends.
Early Wednesday morning, police received a tip when a friend of the apartment owner went to police and told them that they dumped Comunale's body in a New Jersey marshland, the sources said.
A person of interest has been taken into custody for questioning. Police sources said the person is being held on suspended license charge.
NYPD crime scene units were seen carrying bags of evidence out the midtown apartment building Wednesday morning.
Police sources say Emergency Service Unit police dogs found bloody rags and blood-stained clothing that authorities believe belonged to Comunale in the common area of the apartment.
The party's host was reportedly caught on surveillance camera wheeling out a luggage cart and two large suitcases.
