Disney’s beloved Main Street Electrical Parade is set to return to Disneyland for a limited-time engagement beginning next month the theme park announced Monday.
The attraction, among the most popular of Disney’s parades, is set to debut on Jan. 20, according to a Disneyland Resort news release. It will conclude on June 18, 2017.
The nighttime parade premiered at the Anaheim theme park in 1972, and went dark there in 1996. It has been seen at various Disney parks around the world, including at Disney California Adventure, where it ran from 2001 to 2010.
Most recently, the Main Street Electrical Parade entertained audiences at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
The parade’s return will also mark the first time since 1996 that the original opening float for the Main Street Parade — a train pulling a giant drum that proclaims in bright lights, “Disneyland Presents … Main Street Electrical Parade” — will be included in the route, the release stated.
Fans who don’t want to wait until Jan. 20 can purchase tickets to a special after-hours premier set for Jan. 19, which will include a night of exclusive access to select Disney attractions and restaurants from 7:30 p.m. to midnight, according to the release. Annual passholders will be able to buy tickets to the event on Dec. 6, while tickets go on sale to the general public on Dec. 13.
Additionally, a specially decorated Main Street Electrical Parade will celebrate the parade’s return during the 108th Newport Christmas Boat Parade in mid-December.
