Motorist Fatally Shot in Compton, Found Slumped Over Steering Wheel: LASD

A man was fatally shot while driving along a street in Compton, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The shooting happened about 6:45 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of 130th Street and Wilmington Avenue. According to detectives, deputies on routine patrol heard gunshots and found a white sedan stopped on 131st Street and Grape Avenue.

LASD officials said a white sedan pulled up alongside the victims and a suspect opened fire.

The victim was found inside the car slumped over the steering wheel, suffering from gunshot wounds.

A female passenger was inside the car, but was not injured in the shooting.

The victim died at the scene.

No other information was released.
