LAUSD Board Approves Funding for Some Charter Schools, Despite Opposition from District and Teachers’ Union

Los Angeles Unified School District board members voted to continue operating and funding seven out of 10 charter schools Tuesday, despite opposing recommendations from the district and backlash from the local teachers' union and some parents.

The district had recommended that contracts for 10 charter schools not be renewed because they are not following district rules, and some claim there is an unfair difference in standards being set between public and charter education. Courtney Friel reports for the KTLA 5 News at 3 on Nov. 7, 2017.
