Sky5 arrived over the pursuit as the driver was headed eastbound on the 118 Freeway near the 405 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley about 4:40 a.m.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed the driver was initially evading Los Angeles Police Department officers with his headlights turned off. The lights were only turned on when the driver entered a dark portion of the 118 Freeway.

The driver ended up transitioning to the northbound 405 Freeway and then to the northbound 5 Freeway.

California Highway Patrol officers took over the pursuit through the Valencia area just before 5 a.m.

Sky5 was unable to maintain a video signal and ended its following of the pursuit as the driver headed to the Grapevine through the Gorman area.

The Los Angeles CHP ended their pursuit of the driver a short time later.

Eventually, the driver, identified only as a man, was taken into custody by Bakersfield CHP officers off of the northbound 5 Freeway just south of Highway 43, a dispatcher said.
