The fire began about 3 a.m. at the two-story apartment complex located in the 10200 block of South Doty Avenue.

Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished several vehicles that were fully involved with the fire, Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Art Jimenez said.

A man who lives in the apartment said he called police after seeing someone with a gas can outside the complex just before the fire began.

One man has been detained in connection with the fire, Jimenez said.

An arson unit was called to the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.

No injuries were reported and none of the apartment’s occupants were displaced as a result of the fire, Jimenez said.
