    Security was tight Sunday at Dodgers Stadium for Game 3 of the National League Division Series, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.   • UCLA Attempted Sexual Assault Suspect Surrenders to Police

    A man suspected in two separate attempted sexual assaults near UCLA residence halls surrendered to authorities Sunday, according to Lt. Mark Littlestone. Daniel Fernando Hoyos Isaza, 20, of Santa Clarita, Calif., turned himself in to university police around 1 p.m., Littlestone said.  Isaza was scheduled to be transferred to the L.A. Sheriff’s Department’s Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles.   • Students Warned of Attempted Sexual Assaults at UCLA, CSUN

    Investigators warned students and staff at UCLA and Cal State University, Northridge, Saturday about separate attempted sexual assaults at both of the schools. Police were searching for a man who grabbed a student near Rieber Hall on the campus of UCLA at about 2:30 a.m. Friday, UCPD spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein said.  The man was scared off after two people interrupted the alleged attack.  Police believe the man then accosted a second person at a nearby residence hall, according to a police […]

  • Man Shot at, Tasered by Sheriff’s Deputies in Paramount

    Investigators from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department Internal Affairs Bureau were looking into circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting in Paramount on Sunday. The incident occurred around 4:25 p.m. in the 7300 block of Alondra Blvd near Garfield Avenue. A Lakewood Station sheriff’s deputy confronted a man at the location.  The man was said to be uncooperative and possibly on drugs, according to a department press release.  He made a quick movement, which the deputy interpreted as reaching for a weapon.  […]

  • Fundraiser Held for Teen Who Lost Limbs to Meningitis

    Kaitlyn Dobrow expected her friends and family would come, but actor John Stamos was a long shot.  And yet, he was there. A fundraiser was held on Sunday at Huntington Beach High School to help Kaitlyn with medical and living expenses. The teenager lost all four of her limbs to a debilitating case of meningitis.  The disease also left her with scars on her face and all over her body.   • Four Killed in Lancaster Multi-Vehicle Crash

    Four people were killed in a traffic collision in Lancaster Saturday night, according to CHP officers. The crash happened near the intersection of 10th Street East and Avenue G.  A black Honda carrying a driver and four passengers collided with a pickup truck.  The crash sent both vehicles into a ditch, according to witnesses. Three of the victims were traveling in the Honda; the fourth was in the pickup truck.  Check back for updates on this developing story.

  • Woman Killed, Man Wounded in Inglewood Shooting

    An investigation was underway Saturday into a fatal shooting in the 10600 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, police officers said. Two people were shot around 3 p.m. while sitting in a car, according to witnesses. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene.  A second victim was transported to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition.  Their identities were being withheld until next of kin was notified.
