COTO DE CAZA, Calif. (KTLA) — Resid
ents of the affluent community of Coto de Caza have been missing something from their mailboxes… their mail.
Sheriff’s deputies say first-class mail has been stolen from nearly 130 mailboxes in the gated community in recent days.
A man called authorities Saturday morning after finding some of his neighbors’ mail, including advertisements, on the street.
Several letters were opened, and certain parts of the correspondence were missing.
Deputies contacted some residents where addresses and identities could be confirmed.
Investigators got another call on Sunday that more mail had been found on the streets of the Summit neighborhood.
Deputies are warning residents to be on the lookout for identity theft and those who receive checks, credit card statements, or bank statements through the mail should be especially careful.
