ROWLAND HEIGHTS (KTLA) — A 28-year-old man was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver as he crossed a road in Rowland heights early Saturday morning.

The man has been identified by coroner’s officials as Earl T. Bourne II of Los Angeles.

According to witnesses, Bourne was crossing the street near John A. Rowland High School when he was struck by a blue Dodge Durango sports utility vehicle.

Students were arriving back at the school just after midnight on Saturday from a field trip to Disneyland when the crash happened.

No students were injured.

The driver was pulled over near the scene and arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated.

Her name has not been released.

According to California Highway Patrol officials, the man was crossing the street when he was hit by a passing SUV.

Witnesses at the scene said that the man, who has not been identified, may have been a high school student who was part of a school field trip at nearby John A. Rowland High School.

The female driver of the SUV was stopped after the crash and arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
