BELLFLOWER, Calif. (KTLA) — Police on Friday were looking for two men in connection with a suspected road-rage shooting on the westbound 91 Freeway in Bellflower.

It happened just before 8:45 p.m. on Thursday near Bellflower Boulevard at the 605 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A confrontation broke out between the occupants of a Honda Accord and a 2013 Chrysler sedan, CHP Capt. Daniel Minor told reporters.

At some point, the two vehicles made contact.

The impact sent the Honda into the center divider, while the Chrysler ran into a wall on the right shoulder.

Two men got out of the Honda and at least one of them opened fire on the two people inside the Chrysler, Minor said.

The two attackers, described only as Hispanic men, fled on foot. They were then picked up by a silver SUV.

The two shooting victims were transported to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.

One of the victims was in critical condition, reportedly with three gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

The other was shot in the elbow, Minor said.

Investigators planned to go to the house where the Honda was registered, said to be in Bell Gardens.

All westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway were closed for a time after the shooting, bringing traffic to a standstill.

The southbound 605 Freeway connector to the westbound 91 Freeway was also closed.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
