LAKESIDE, Calif. — Three people killed Saturday in a small plane crash in eastern San Diego County have been identified as a Phoenix-area mother, father and daughter.

The medical examiner identified the three as a 65-year-old man, a 53-year-old woman and their 19-year-old daughter.

No names were revealed. The family was returning to Phoenix.

Their Lancair Turbine aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Montgomery Field in San Diego.

The crash occurred on a rugged hillside near Lakeside. The family’s dog was also killed in the crash.

NEAR LAKESIDE, Calif. — Three people are confirmed dead following a plane crash Saturday morning near Lakeside in eastern San Diego County, authorities said.

The plane crashed west of Highway 67 in the Sycamore Canyon area about 10:30 a.m., according to a spokesman for the Heartland Fire and Rescue Department.

The plane may have just taken off from Gillespie Field in nearby El Cajon, authorities said. No other details about the crash were immediately available.

The crash is being investigated by the San Diego County Sheriff”s Department and the Federal Aviation Administration.
