Story Summary

Honoring Our Fallen Heroes

Gayle Anderson was live in Pasadena with the Fork Foundation, who with the cooperation of the Pasadena Fire Department, City of Pasadena, Los Angeles Firefighters and the Pasadena Foothills magazine are collecting donations for the families of the Prescott, AZ hotshot fire team at Fork Plaza TODAY (July 19th) from 7 AM to 5 PM and Saturday, July 20th, from 8 AM to 4 PM.

The Fallen Heroes Firefighter Fundraiser provides long-term programs and assistance to the families and the coworkers of the firefighters who died in Yarnell, AZ on Sunday, June 3o, 2013.

The Yarnell Hill wildfire started as a result of lightening on June 28th and rapidly spread across the drought-ridden landscape fueled by strong winds. The 19 firefighters killed were trying to save a small housing subdivision when weather changes altered the direction of the advancing wildfire and encircled the team in a dense cloud of smoke and flame.  This tragedy has become the nation’s biggest loss of firefighters in a wildfire in 80 years.

Fork Plaza is located just south of Huntington Hospital where Pasadena Avenue and St. John Avenue come to a fork. Look for volunteer firefighters from Pasadena and surrounding cities. Drive by and fill the boot. Checks and money orders can be made payable to: Yarnell Hill Firefighters Fund. 100% of all donations collected will go straight to this fund in helping the families who lost loved ones.

If you cannot make it to Pasadena for the Fallen Heroes Firefighter Fundraiser,  you can make donations online by clicking HERE.

The Fork Foundation is a non-profit organization started in 2009. The mission of the Fork Foundation is to provide change and community outreach where there is need.
