LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Actor Angus T. Jones, the youngest member of the Two and a Half Men cast, is responding to recent statements he made calling the sitcom “filth.”
Jones, 19, has been on the show for nine seasons, playing Jake, the son of John Cryer’s character.
But in a recent YouTube video, Jones makes a plea for people to stop watching the show.
“If you watch ‘Two and a Half Men,’ please stop watching ‘Two and a Half Men,'” he says in the video.
“I’m on ‘Two and a Half Men’ and I don’t want to be on it,” he continues. “Please stop watching. Please stop filling your head with filth.”
The YouTube video was made for the Forerunner Christian Church, which is based in Fremont, California.
Jones has recently started Bible studies at the church, and said the values of the show’s characters conflicted with his newfound Christian faith.
But he’s apparently had a change of heart, and he issued a statement on Tuesday apologizing for his remarks.
“I apologize if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed,” Jones said.
“Without qualification, I am grateful to and have the highest regard and respect for all of the wonderful people on Two and Half Men with whom I have worked and over the past 10 years who have become an extension of my family.”
CNN Showbiz reports taht Jones will not appear in the show’s next two episodes.
Jones is said to make more than $300,000 per episode.
Warner Bros.Television, which produces the comedy, and CBS, which airs the show, aren’t talking about the actor’s remarks.
Back in 2011, Charlie Sheen was let go from the show after a very public feud with producers and a series of rants and tirades.
Sheen’s character was killed off the series, and Ashton Kutcher was brought in to revamp it.
A couple of years ago, Jones signed a contract guaranteeing him $7.9 million plus bonuses, which made him the highest paid child star on TV.
Jones’ net worth is estimated to be around $15 million.
