Suspect Shot, Killed by Police in Hollywood

hollywoodshootHOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KTLA) — An investigation is underway into a deadly officer-involved shooting in Hollywood Thursday morning.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Whitley Avenue, between Hollywood Boulevard and Franklin Avenue.

Police were responding to a domestic violence call when the shooting occurred.

The woman caller said there were threats being made by someone with a knife.

A police spokesman says the responding officers met the caller who directed them to a man neighbors say was her roommate.

LAPD Sgt. Frank Preciado says “at that point officers made contact an an officer involved shooting did occur,”

It’s unclear what prompted the officers to open fire or if the suspect was armed.

The man was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

No officers were hurt in the incident.
