Armed Man Robs Pizza Deliveryman, Shot at by Police

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KTLA) — Authorities in Long Beach were searching lb-picfor a suspect who was shot at by police after robbing a pizza delivery man.

It happened just before 8 p.m. Sunday near 9th Street and Atlantic Avenue.

The suspect, armed with a handgun, robbed a pizza delivery man, taking his wallet, pizza and cell phones.

Officers arrived and a foot pursuit ensued, ending in shots fired by police.

The suspect, described only as a black male, got away and remains at large. It wasn’t immediately clear if he was wounded.

About two dozen residents were evacuated from an apartment building in the area as police and SWAT searched for the gunman.

“There were some more gunshots really close… They actually sounded like they were in my laundry room,” said resident Joe Ogle.

The evacuated residents were taken to nearby First Friends Church.

Anyone with information is asked to call Long Beach police.
