First-class mail was stolen from nearly 130 mailboxes in the gated community in recent days, according to sheriff’s deputies.
A man called authorities Saturday morning after finding some of his neighbors’ mail, including advertisements, on the street.
Several letters were opened, and certain parts of the correspondence were missing, the witness said.
Deputies contacted some residents where addresses and identities could be confirmed.
Investigators got another call on Sunday that more mail had been found on the streets of the Summit neighborhood.
Deputies were warning residents to be mindful for identity theft. Those who receive checks, credit card statements, or bank statements through the mail should be especially careful.
