jocelyn-picWEST COVINA, Calif. (KTLA) — Some police officers in West Covina are pairing up with kids for a little holiday cheer on Thursday.

Ten children will get to hit the Target store in West Covina alongside a police officer for the annual “Shop with a Cop” program.

Two young girls taking part in the event are 7-year-old Jocelyn Ramirez, and her 15-year old sister Leslie.

Jocelyn and Leslie were the sole survivors of a crash that killed four members of her family back in August on the 134 Freeway in Eagle Rock.

The children each get up to $300 to spend from the West Covina Police Officer’s Association.

Officers donate money out of their paychecks all year long for the special event.

“They have to make a wish list to make sure they stay within budget,” Officer Eddie Flores explained.

He said Jocelyn’s wish list was blankets, sweatshirts for her family, toothbrushes and hygiene materials and one doll for herself.
