LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — In just a week, Tasia Ann Thomas has become one of the hottest singers on the web.

Thomas is just 19 years old, but she sure has some pipes on her.

The singer posted a mash-up of the best songs of 2012 on YouTube. It’s so popular that over two million people have watched the clip.

Thomas says that, even though she dreamed big and joked about trying to get a million hits, she never imagined this would happen.

In fact, not too long ago, she was living in Oahu, Hawaii, on a much different path.

“I had great promise in running track, but a checkup changed it all,” Thomas explained.

The doctor told her that she had scoliosis, ending her track career.

“Although you think you’re on one path, it’s funny how God puts you on another,” she reflected.

Thomas can no longer run, but she sure can sing.

When she moved to Los Angeles two years ago with a dream like so many, she realized that it wasn’t all bright lights and a shining city.

“When you’re passionate about something… It’s a sacrifice,” Thomas says.

That sacrifice involved living out of her car. She says it was tough, and embarrassing at times.

“I was walking out of acting class, my friend walked me to my car and looked inside, saw all my stuff piled up. He didn’t say anything just gave me that look like are you OK?”

But since Thomas’ video went viral just last week, her life has already changed. She has gained international notoriety.

Thomas says a positive attitude and believing in yourself is all you need to make your dreams come true. It seems to have worked for her.

She is now connecting with her fans on her Twitter page, where she’s also keeping up with her video’s rapid climb up YouTube’s popular page.
