BOYLE HEIGHTS, Calif. (KTLA) — An elderly couple was left badly hurt after a house fire broke out Thursday morning.

Authorities say the fire started in a back bedroom of a home in the 3100 block of Malabar Street.

A man in his 90’s and a woman in her 70’s are being treated for critical injuries.

It took firefighters 20-minutes to put out the flames.

Firefighters also found a dried out Christmas tree in the living room, but it is not known if that had anything to do with the fire.
