VAN NUYS, Calif. (KTLA) — There’s a happy ending to a story we brought you about a missing dog from Rosemead that was held for ransom.
On Sunday, Marlene Bolivar was reunited with her beloved dog Lucky, a four-year-old Pomeranian.
When Lucky disappeared back in August, a mysterious woman called and asked how much Marlene would be willing to pay.
“I don’t really have a lot of money, so I didn’t offer a big amount,” Marlene explained. “The lady told me let me see what my friends say, and I’ll give you a call back.”
That woman never called back, and Marlene thought Lucky was gone forever.
But five months later and more than 350 miles away, Lucky was found wandering the streets of Sacramento.
This time, the runaway pooch was taken into the right hands. Animal control officers scanned his microchip and contacted Marlene.
How the dog got all the way to Sacramento remains something of a mystery.
A volunteer pilot from an organization called Wings of Rescue flew Lucky to Van Nuys airport for the big reunion.
