Tech Updates: E Ink Smartphone, Pandora Limits Mobile Streaming, Samsung Wallet & iCloud Issues

Here is what I mentioned this morning on KTLA Morning News:

If you’re having issues with iCloud, you’re not alone. Apple says it’s having some issues with Photo Stream, Backups and Documents in the Cloud. Check their status page here for updates.

E Ink is showing off a smartphone at Mobile World Congress (a big cell phone show in Barcelona, Spain) that last a week without being recharged. The screen is similar to what you’d find on the original Kindle, so it’s easy to read in direct sunlight but gray-scale only.

Pandora says it will limit mobile listening to 40 hours per month. After that, it will charge you $1 to continue listening, or you can wait until the next month for more free streaming. Desktop listening is still unlimited. Pandora says only 4% of users will be affected.

Samsung is introducing it’s own version of Apple’s Passbook, an app called Wallet. It stores your boarding passes, tickets and coupons for a variety of establishments. Walgreens, Expedia and Lufthansa are all on board at launch. So far it seems the app is for Samsung phones only, which is unfortunate for other Android users. Hopefully that will change.

Bonus: Yesterday I checked out “the bean” while I was in Chicago, a very unique public art installation. See my 360-degree Photo Sphere here.
