IndyCar Series Champion Ryan Hunter-Reay brought the signature IZOD racing car to the studios to discuss the upcoming 2013 IndyCar season and his charity, ‘Racing for Cancer’.
This is the first time that an American has been at the top of the IndyCar standings since 2006. Ryan Hunter-Reay is the driver of the No. 28 DHL / Sun Drop Chevrolet for Andretti Autosport. As the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series Champion Hunter-Reay is one of only 13 worldwide envoys for the ‘Livestrong’ organization and is the founder of ‘Racing for Cancer,’ a charity that raises funds for cancer awareness and research. Hunter-Reay’s car number refers to the 28 million people in the world currently battling cancer. Hunter-Reay won the IndyCar Rookie of the Year award in 2007, and won the 2008 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year award.
The IZOD IndyCar Series will begin the 2013 season on March 24 with the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. The series will return to Southern California on April 21 with the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
