BELLFLOWER, Calif. (KTLA) — Police are searching for a suspect who beat a clerk with a crowbar during a robbery at a mini mart in Bellflower.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lena Market in the 9100 block of Alondra Boulevard.

L.A. County sheriff’s deputies say the suspect, wearing a black ski mask, jumped over the counter and hit the woman several times with a crowbar.

He took some cash as well as the clerk’s wallet and purse before running away through the parking lot.

A man who works at the Pizza Hut next door saw the clerk crawling on the floor inside the store and called 911.

The clerk was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

The suspect was wearing a red and gray shirt under a black hoodie and tan pants.

Deputies are now reviewing surveillance video from the store in hopes of generating leads.
