The sighting was not far from Clark Magnet High School.

It took three tranquilizer darts to bring the animal down.

California Fish and Wildlife wardens believe the animal is a full-grown male, weighing about 120 pounds.

Officials loaded him into the back of a pick-up truck.

They said he would get a quick health check-up and be tagged, before being released back in the mountains.

Wildlife officials said this was the first mountain lion sighting in a populated area of Southern California this year, and they expect more as we approach summer.

The big cats are looking for food, and they focus on a scent, without paying too much attention to their surroundings.
