Boston Marathon Tragedy: How to Donate

Rescue organizations are tending to the tragic scene at the Boston Marathon, where three people were killed and more than 170 were injured.

red-crossImmediately following the tragedy, Good Samaritans sprung into action to help the victims.

For us here on the West Coast, we can’t physically be there, but we have found some ways that you can help.

The Red Cross says if you’re looking to get in contact with people in the Boston area and haven’t been able to touch base, the best way is through its Safe & Well page.

Also, the Red Cross is not asking for blood donations at this time, but you can always schedule an appointment in the future to give blood.

The Salvation Army is providing food and crisis counseling to survivors and first responders.

You can help the Salvation Army by donating money or clothing.

Sadly, at a time like this, some people try to cash in on tragedy.

You need to be suspicious of people asking for money who don’t appear to be with a reputable organization.

Always be careful where you donate. The best way to donate is to go to a legitimate donation website.
