LONG BEACH, Calif. (KTLA) — Local police are stepping up security at events across Southern California this weekend, including at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.  The heightened security measures come after the events in Boston this week.

Officials say some of the added security measures will be visible — like K-9 units — and others will not.

“If you see anything that concerns you — and we talk about this all the time with our residents — don’t think twice, call 911,” Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster emphasized.

Some 175,000 people are expected to attend the Grand Prix. Anyone attending should allow extra time to get past security.
