MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (KTLA) — Authorities continued to search Thursday for a thief who got away with a stash of high-end watches after a brazen smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in Mission Viejo.

The robbery at Swiss Watch Gallery, located in The Shops at Mission Viejo, was captured on surveillance video Wednesday.

The video showed the alleged thief walking through the store before asking the clerk to show him five Cartier watches. He was out of the camera’s view when he allegedly showed the salesperson a gun in his waistband and demanded the watches be put in a bag.

The video showed the man walking out of the store with a blue bag.

The five watches were estimated to be worth more than $45,000, authorities said.

Investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department asked the public for help identifying the man in the video.
