ONTARIO, Calif. (KTLA) — Investigators were searching for clues on Wednesday after a man was shot and killed in Ontario, police said.

Officers responded just before midnight on Tuesday to reports of a fight and shots fired in the 100 block of Park Avenue, according to Ontario police.

They found a 28-year-old man in an alleyway suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released.

Witnesses said the victim had walked out of a house to move his car, when two men approached him and shot him in the chest.

Police could not confirm that information.

The motive for the shooting remained unclear, investigators said. They did not believe the incident was gang-related.

Police did not have any information about the possible gunman or gunmen.
