Main Gas Line Ruptures in Newbury Park

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — A main gas line ruptured in Thousand Oaks Wednesday forcing officials to ask area residents to shelter in place.

The leak was reported in the vicinity of Newbury and Ventu roads in Newbury Park, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Newbury Road was closed between Ventu Park Road and Haigh Road while firefighters and Gas Company personnel responded to the incident.

The Ventura County Fire Department asked area residents to shelter in place until the the leak could be capped.

Officials announced the gas leak was shut off at about 2:30 p.m.

Residents and businesses were allowed to return to normal activity.

The cause of the gas line rupture was under investigation.
