LOS ANGELES — Some stores were reportedly charging customers to try on clothes in order to prevent them from purchasing the items online.

One woman claimed on Wedding Wire she was recently charged $25 to try on wedding dresses at a boutique in New York.

The practice has reached a few stores with average fees ranging from $5 to $25, according to reports.

The tactic was said to be a new way for employees to make sure they weren’t wasting their time with customers who try on items only to make their purchases later online.
