Man Charged With Murdering Neighbor Over Backyard Fireworks

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (KTLA) — A 52-year-old man was charged with felony murder Tuesday in the fatal shooting of his neighbor.

neighbor-shooting-priceRobert Joseph Price was also charged with a sentencing enhancement of personal use of a firearm causing death.

Price allegedly shot Glen Berry, 53, after a confrontation over backyard fireworks, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s office.

It happened around 1 a.m. on June 21 at a home in the 12600 block of Poplar Street.

Price was allegedly lighting fireworks in his backyard, which shares a fence with Berry’s home.

Police said Berry walked over to Price’s house and knocked on the screen door.

When Price opened the door, he allegedly shot Berry in the face through the closed screen, police said.

Price was being held on $1 million bail.

If convicted, he faced a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison.
