Fast-moving Brush Fire Chars Backyards In Mentone

MENTONE, Calif. (KTLA) — A fast-moving brush fire continued to blaze near Highway 38 and Mill Creek Road in San Bernardino County on Saturday.

The fire has charred 534 acres and reached the backyards of homes, fire officials said.

The blaze was 50 percent contained by Saturday evening, and authorities had lifted mandatory evacuation orders.

The evacuations had been in place for residents north of Carter Street and west of Bryant Street in Yucaipa.

No structures had been damaged.

There was no word on what may have caused the fire.
