HIDDEN HILLS, Calif. (KTLA) — A 75-year-old grandfather was facing several felony charges Wednesday including robbery, burglary and assault with a deadly weapon after he was allegedly caught trying to break into a Hidden Hills home.

Ronald Snyder, 75

Ronald Snyder, a husband, father and grandfather, was arrested Sunday after deputies responding to a 911 call allegedly found him, with a gun, trying to force his way into a home.

“He tried to draw his gun, but deputies were able to restrain him and handcuff him without further incident,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Robert Wiard said.

Two handguns, including one with a silencer, along with a wig, gloves, rope, handcuffs and false law enforcement identification where allegedly found in Snyder’s car, according to authorities.

Snyder was believed to have gained access to the gated community because he recently owned a home there.

“We believe that he came upon financial hard times, and was committing the burglaries and the robberies for financial gain,” Waird said.

Snyder was linked to at least one other burglary in Hidden Hills, according to investigators.

His bail was set at $1 million.
