Both Amazon and Google recently suffered outages. If you’re ever wondering if a site is down there are two good places to check to see if it’s an issue on your end or if everyone is having the same problem.

TiVo is launching a new line of DVRs called Roamio. They feature more storage space, more tuners so you can record more shows simultaneously, plus what could be a very useful feature – the ability to watch your shows anywhere you have a WiFi connection. ¬†Although the DVRs are available now, the “watch anywhere” feature is coming “very soon,” according to the site.

A new taxi hailing service called Flywheel has launched in Los Angeles. The app lets you hail a taxi from your phone, track its location on a map as it arrives and pay from your phone. Unlike some other ride apps out there, this one calls a real licensed taxi cab, and not someone in their personal car giving you a ride. Currently the app is working with Bell Cabs and accepting rides in many LA areas. Sign up with promo code KTLA10 for $10 in free credit.
