Police were searching for a man who grabbed a student near Rieber Hall on the campus of UCLA at about 2:30 a.m. Friday, UCPD spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein said.  The man was scared off after two people interrupted the alleged attack.  Police believe the man then accosted a second person at a nearby residence hall, according to a police report.

The man was described as 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall with light skin and short brown hair. He was wearing a blue tank top, blue jeans and tennis shoes at the time of the incident.  Anyone with information can call UCPD at (310) 825-9371.

The CSUN police department was investigating two separate incidents on campus with similar circumstances.

The first incident occurred Sept. 29 at 1 a.m. in the F8 parking lot between student housing University Park Apartments 10 and 15.  Four men allegedly approached a female student in the parking lot and offered her money and made sexual advances towards her.  One of the men grabbed the victim’s arm and another grabbed her hand, according Capt. Scott Vanscoy of Patrol Operations.  The victim was able to walk away unharmed, Vanscoy said.

The second incident occurred on Oct. 2 at 10:40 p.m. near the UPA apartment 9 mailroom.  Four men cornered a female student and prevented her from leaving.  The victim pulled out a stun gun and stunned one of the men.  All four fled the area on foot.

The primary suspect is described as being in his early 20s and about 5 feet 10 inches tall with dark complexion.  He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweater and dark colored pants.  The three other suspects were described as having similar physical characteristics and clothing.  Anyone with information on either of the two incidents was asked to contact Detective Sgt. Mark Benavidez at (818) 677-3901.
