Buena Park Police Officer Seriously Injured in Car Crash

A Buena Park police officer was hospitalized Saturday, after her patrol car was rear ended by an SUV, authorities said.

The officer was driving on La Palma Ave. near Stanton Ave. in Buena Park at 8 p.m. Friday, when the crash happened, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The officer had stopped at a traffic light near Knott’s Berry Farm, when she was hit by a Kia Sorento, the CHP said.

The unidentified officer had to be extricated from her mangled patrol car, witnesses said.

She was taken to UCI Medical Center with moderate injuries, the CHP said.

The SUV driver suffered minor injuries, according to the CHP.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.

A blood test will be performed to determine if the driver of the SUV was intoxicated, police said.
