Bellflower School Locked Down During Deputies’ Search

Washington Elementary School in Bellflower was temporarily placed on lockdown Friday morning as deputies searched unsuccessfully for someone believed to have stolen a vehicle in the area, authorities said.

The school, located at 9725 Jefferson St., was placed on lockdown just before 10 a.m., according to the Bellflower Unified School District superintendent’s office.

As of 10:30 a.m. the operation was being conducted in the area of Alondra and Bellflower boulevards, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The search concluded without the arrest of a suspect, a department spokeswoman said on Twitter just after 10:45 a.m.
