A man in Placentia is hoping someone will recognize a woman who allegedly stole a package from his front porch just minutes after it was delivered by the postal service.

Hong Nguyen recorded the theft on Monday on his home security cameras.

The video shows a postal worker delivering a package to his home on Castner Drive and leaving it on the front doorstep.

A short time later, a woman pulled up, got out her SUV carrying another package that she swapped out with the one already on the porch.

The thief was described as a middle-aged woman with short white hair. She was driving a blue Chrysler Pacifica, Nguyen said.

Nguyen posted the video on YouTube hoping to catch the woman and warn other potential victims.

“It makes you angry, you know, that people have to resort to stuff like that,” Hong Nguyen said.

The stolen package contained about $350 in electronics, Nguyen said.

Officials say package thefts are more common at this time of year.

“This can happen frequently,” Placentia police Detective Corinne Loomis said. “With the holidays coming they will be able to hit the motherload… with packages that will be filled with Christmas presents.”
