Shooting Outside Pomona Liquor Store Is Latest in Recent Wave of Violence

An investigation was underway Saturday in Pomona following the shooting of a man outside a liquor store, authorities said.

The victim was identified as 58-year-old Raymond Sears of Pomona, according to the Pomona Police Department.

Sears was shot on Friday night at 10:32 p.m. in the 500 block of East La Verne Avenue (map).

He walked a few feet away and collapsed in front of a 7-Eleven, police said.

His injuries were not life threatening, according to police.

The motive of the shooting was not known.

The incident was the latest in a string of shootings in Pomona over the past few days, police said.

There was another shooting on Friday night near West Orange Grove Avenue and North Gordon Street in Pomona.

One man suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound, police said.

On Wednesday night officers responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of San Bernardino Avenue.

Two men were shot to death, and a third victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, police said.
